Creative Director (Opposition Leader's Office - Ottawa)

Overview:  

The Opposition Leader’s Office Communications team develops and executes high-impact communications initiatives to advance the Leader’s message and shape the national political conversation. This includes identifying and executing communications opportunities that generate earned media, viral digital traction, and public engagement across traditional and new platforms.

The Creative Director will play a senior, strategic role within the communications team, reporting to the Director of Communications, and will be responsible for developing bold and timely ideas that advance the Conservative vision for Canada. 

The successful applicant will be part of a fast-paced team committed to excellence and to ensuring that Canada has a common-sense government that puts Canadians first after the next federal election.

Applicants from outside the National Capital Region can apply. Relocation expenses are not available for this opportunity.

The candidate:

  • Is an out-of-the-box thinker who is not afraid to speak up with innovative and high-impact ideas that drive messages, digital engagement, and public awareness.

  • Thinks creatively and strategically about narrative, timing, audience, and political context, with strong judgement about what will resonate.

  • Takes initiative in shaping the Leader’s tour by conceptualizing and helping execute innovative, high-impact events and community engagement opportunities that create meaningful opportunities for Canadians to engage directly with the Leader in compelling and memorable ways, while maximizing public engagement and reach.

  • Will explore and advance unconventional approaches, while working as part of a robust team to execute on key opportunities.

  • Is comfortable developing multiple communications concepts quickly, stress-testing ideas, and refining the strongest opportunities for execution.

  • Has a strong understanding of Canada’s political, media, and digital environments, including how stories move across broadcast, print, and social platforms.

  • Can translate political issues and policy priorities into clear, compelling, and digestible narratives that support the Leader’s message and objectives.

  • Can work effectively with writers, designers, videographers, digital staff, and external stakeholders to bring ideas from concept to execution.

  • Is able to operate at both a high strategic level and a practical execution level in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Is self-directed and comfortable bringing forward new and innovative ideas for the broader team’s consideration.

  • Has volunteered or worked in Conservative politics or a comparable political, advocacy, media, or campaign environment.

  • Bilingualism is an asset.

Job type:

Permanent, full-time (following a probationary period).
