Position: Director of Digital Media

Overview
The Executive Council is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Digital Media to oversee the management and execution of its digital presence across multiple platforms. This key leadership role will involve the administration of websites, social media channels, audiovisual content, and photography/videography operations. The Director will report to the Executive Director of Communications and Media Relations and provide direction and oversight of both internal and external marketing, branding campaigns, and of a small digital media team.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in digital marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with the Executive Council brand’s tone and presence across all digital touchpoints. Travel, overnight and weekend work may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Management
• Oversee the social media calendar, ensuring timely and consistent content delivery.
• Manage the event schedule, ensuring appropriate staffing and coverage for digital media requirements.
• Lead a small digital media team, including staff responsible for photography/videography and content creation.
• Supervise and manage Executive Council’s online presence across five major platforms.
• Ensure the successful execution of all digital media activities, including website management and social media engagement.
Strategic Planning and Oversight
• Provide data-driven insights and long-term planning recommendations based on analytics.
• Support the Executive Council in large-scale projects by offering branding and digital media expertise.
• Offer branding and digital oversight to Ministries on key initiatives and projects.
• Coordinate logistics and preparations for press conferences, both in Regina and Saskatoon.
• Stay updated with emerging trends and advancements in digital marketing, social media, and consumer behavior.
Training and Development
• Administer staff training sessions on tools and platforms including MeltWater, SnapStream, Social Media, and Photography/Videography to enhance team skill sets.
Branding
• Oversee the development and maintenance of the Executive Council’s visual and brand identity.
• Provide strategic branding support for both new and ongoing government initiatives.
Reporting and Analytics
• Monitor, interpret, and report on digital performance metrics.
• Provide daily reports on social media performance to senior leadership.
• Summarize key online trends and comments in weekly reports.
• Deliver monthly reports on overall social media performance and quarterly updates to Members of the Executive Council as needed.
Daily Operations
• Provide graphic design and copywriting support as needed.
• Contribute photography and videography content when required.
• Manage and curate a content calendar that reflects relevant, timely topics.
• Collaborate closely with the Executive Council team to maintain consistent messaging and communication.
Required Skills
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (for graphic design).
• In-depth knowledge of social media marketing and analytics.
• Strong understanding of branding and marketing strategy.
• Experience with videography, photography, and audiovisual content creation.
• Exceptional copywriting and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze both digital and traditional marketing metrics to inform decisions.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Marketing, Digital Media, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
• A minimum of four years of experience in digital media or marketing.
• At least two years of experience managing a team.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
• Experience in government communications or public sector environments is preferred but not required.
